Safety, Health & Environment

We put a lot of energy into our Health and Safety record believing that by providing a positive culture, we all will benefit. This filters down from management to employees. A good safety performance increases production and quality, giving our customers confidence in our ability to carry out projects with the correct procedures in place.

Through hard work and continual improvement we have been recognised as a company that puts Health and Safety at the forefront of our operations. Our customers can be assured that our robust Health and Safety management system is compliant with all legislation and site safety is of paramount importance to us.
We are accreditated with Safe-T-Cert which indicates that we have demonstrated compliance with, and have a sound management of, current health and safety legislation. All our fitters and management hold CSR cards at the appropriate level, having passed the standard CSR Health and Safety test. Our operatives attend courses on different aspects of our work, such as Manual Handling, COSHH, Fire Awareness, First Aid, Asbestos Awareness and Risk Assessment.  We are at present taking part in a pilot scheme that will hopefully result in all our operatives achieving and NVQ level 2 qualification.  At present we have a number of operatives in the painting department that already hold this accreditation.

Health, Safety and Environmental issues are addressed in the monthly managment meetings however a new safety committee to be made up of managment and staff will hold its first meeting in January 2010.

The Contracts Managers & Site Managers are responsible for the day to day H&S aspect of their projects. Site specific Risk Assessments are carried out for all projects and the appropriate documentation is supplied in hard & electronic copies to the main contractor.
We recognize that we have a legal and moral responsibility to manage our activities in such a way as to reduce the detrimental impact on the environment. To this end we adopt a philosophy of 'beyond minimum compliance' at all levels of our operations to ensure that the impact of pollution and environmental disruption is reduced as much as possible. All our arrangements for waste disposal are managed in a responsible way and we recycle as much as possible. We are currently investigating an initiative to recycle vinyl flooring.

We are constantly reviewing the materials we use, making decisions on an environmental basis as well as best product for purpose.
